SAGA RUBY in Lisbon 2009-01-02

The first cruise ship to arrive in Lisbon in 2009 was the SAGA RUBY on the 2nd January. She docked at the Alcântara terminal on the final leg of the Christmas & New Year cruise 2008.
The SAGA RUBY has been calling in Lisbon since 22 September 1973, then a brand new ship in original name as VISTAFJORD. She was renamed CARONIA in 1999 and SAGA RUBY in 2004.

THE SAGA RUBY arriving in LISBON

One of the main attractions on a cruise to Lisbon is the scennic viewing of the city and the river Tagus as seen from aboard the ships on their arrival.
A frequent visitor to Lisbon is SAGA HOLYDAYS' SAGA RUBY, depicted here in several photos taken by L. M. Correia on 4th May 2006.
The SAGA RUBY called Lisbon for the first time on 22nd September 1973 in her original form as Norwegian America Line VISTAFJORD.
After 33 years of continous cruise service she still looks a handsome ship and the present livery is particularly attractive.
From top to bottom: The SAGA RUBY has just embarked the harbour pilot off Algés, sails past the Belém Tower, upriver to pass under the Tagus bridge and dock at the nearby Alcântara cruise terminal
