GRAND VICTORIA IN LISBON 22-08-2006
Several views of the cruise ship GRAND VICTORIA taken in Lisbon on 22-08-2006. She was built in France as the RENAISSANCE for Paquet Cruises and between 1977 and 25 had a long spell under the ownership of Epirotiki and Royal Olympic Cruises, with 3 years in Indonesia as the AWANI DREAM in between.

THE SAME SHIP - A DIFFERENT LOOK
The French Lines' DE GRASSE photographed in Lisbon in the early fifties on a cruise from Le Havre and the same ship under her final name as Siosa Line VENEZUELA again docking in Lisbon in the late fifties.

THE SAME SHIP - A DIFFERENT LOOK
Some passenger ships look just like cats: they have seven lifes. One such example is the STOCKHOLM of 1948, still sailing as the ATHENA in Classic International Cruises livery. I first photographed her in Lisbon in the mid seventies when she used to cruise from Goteborg under charter to Stena Line as the VOLKERFEUNDSCHAFT. Here she is underway in the river Tagus in 1985 and again in Lisbon twenty years later as the rebuilt ATHENA.
